For Gordon James

Dear Editor
Desperate to maintain the myth of man-made global warming and the cash flow that accompanies it, “green” groups are getting increasingly desperate in their defence of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate storylines and theories of runaway global warming due to man’s energy use.
Gordon James of Friends of the Earth produces unreferenced assertions which appear to be based on an internet page on “climate myths”. The same page says: “Climate models do not reproduce 20th century temperatures very well”. It goes on: “The picture is complicated because different kinds of aerosols can have different effects: black carbon or soot has warming rather than a cooling effect, for instance. Then there is the question of how all the different aerosols affect clouds. Climate scientists acknowledge that the aerosol issue is one of the key uncertainties in their understanding.” Mr James forgot to mention that.
We have just seen the largest northern hemisphere January to January fall in temperature since records began in the 1880’s. Studying solar cycles, Russian Academy of Science experts tell us a period of global cooling will begin in 2012 and peak in 2055.
NASA’s Argo project proves oceans have been cooling since 2003. There has been no surface warming in the last decade; see temperature records from UK Hadley, supported by satellite records from the University of Alabama Huntsville. The head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has acknowledged the plateau in temperatures so far this century.
Not one of the computer models used to support the warming scare suggested ten years of no warming; every one is now invalidated by Mother Nature, the real ruler of climate. NASA’s Aqua satellite launched 2002 also proves assumptions made by modellers on the effects of carbon dioxide are wrong. Weather processes are compensating.
Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant as politicians and greens try to convince us and in these times of dangerous food shortages caused in part by environmental lobbying for bio-fuels, the very last thing plant life needs is removal of carbon dioxide; a gas vital to life on Earth.
Mr James may not be aware that there is a jackpot of $150,000 available to anyone who has solid proof that man-made CO2 is warming us to dangerous levels.
When will he be collecting his prize?
Yours faithfully
Alwyn Davies.

Response to Friends of the Earth

Dear Editor,
It is always interesting to read Friend of the Earth Roberta Owen’s letters though they often appear to be full of sadness and gloom. We have over 4 trillion barrels of known recoverable oil reserves at present consumption levels and have used one trillion in all human history. (U.S Geological Survey).
On food shortages, in 2004 Friends of the Earth urged: “The Government should introduce a Bio-fuels Obligation, to stimulate a UK bio-fuels industry”
This policy has led to disastrous world shortages of food as corn is poured into fuel tanks instead of stomachs. Now in 2008 we see: Friends of the Earth hopes that the Government will now put the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation on hold and demand a moratorium on EU bio-fuel targets.”
Roberta wishes the facts on ten years of no global warming and five years of cooling oceans mentioned in my letter of May 2nd were true. Good news! They are proven scientific fact. For news on cooling oceans, see the NASA Argo project. For news on the last decade of no warming, see temperature records from UK Hadley, supported by satellite records from the University of Alabama Huntsville. The head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has acknowledged the plateau in temperatures so far this century.
